E-Verify Program Extended, Cybersecurity Budget Boosted in DHS Spending Bill

The E-Verify program will be extended for two years and cybersecurity budget will be increased if the 2010 Homeland Security Department spending bill approved by a House subcommittee makes it through the rest of the process.

The House Appropriations Committee’s Homeland Security Subcommittee allocated $42.6 billion in discretionary funds for the department on June 8, according to subcommittee chair Rep. David Price (D-N.C.). He added that the departmental budget for fiscal 2010 is 6.5 percent above last year’s and about 1 percent below the administration’s request.
