Navy to Create Cyber Command
The Navy will set up a coordinated cyber command to improve cyber capabilities, according to the Chief of Naval Operations.
The new unit will function as the Navy’s contribution to the overall Cyber Command being set up within the DoD.
The Navy is going to combine communications network operations and intelligence functions into a unit to help provide an edge in cyberspace. The 10th Fleet will be home to the Navy’s component of the emerging Cyber Command. The new unit is responsible for handling all facets of the Navy’s information operations.
The new command was announced by the chief of naval operations at an event hosted last week by the Center for Strategic and International Studies.
