Multinational Cyber Coalition to Help Train Malaysian Police

The International Multilateral Partnership Against Cyber Threats (IMPACT) will conduct cyber training for the Royal Malaysian Police. The course will be revealed next year and is expected to include methods to help the police combat cyber crime and identity theft.

Datuk Mohd Noor Amin, the chairman of IMPACT, said “There needs to be a political will to drive this and I’m glad that there are already governments that are moving towards this direction.”

The increasing levels of cyber crimes and identity theft using cyberspace has grown dramatically in recent years. As police look to combat the crime spree, international cooperation is becoming a central issue. Earlier this year, the FBI along with Egyptian police netted around 100 suspects in a cyber crime ring that operated in both countries.
