Top Internet Threats for 2009
CA, Inc. recently released its report on the State of the Internet 2009, which profiles some of the top threats on the internet for 2009. Some of the top threats include fake security software, social networking and Web 2.0 technologies.
The report also looks towards the coming year, predicting that malvertising will increase and that there will likely be another major worm on the scale of Conficker. According to Don DeBolt, director of threat research at CA, said “Cybercriminals have made a business out of conducting attacks on the most popular online destinations because they promise the highest payoff.”
He also highlighted the importance of education to combat most cyber threats. According to the report, malware doubled in the past year and it is becoming increasingly easier for individuals to rent botnets to carry out cyber attacks.
