Back in October, at the launch of National Cyber Security Awareness Month, DHS Secretary Janet Napolitano announced that DHS had been authorized to hire an additional 1,000 cyber security professionals. In an effort to boost their chances of finding and hiring these individuals as quickly as possible, DHS has announced a virtual job fair that will take place in January.

On the DHS website, there are a number of positions listed that DHS is looking to hire for. The positions span the GS-12 to GS-15 levels and all applicants must be US citizens and able to obtain a Top Secret security clearance.

DHS is targeting the following areas in its recruiting drive:

1) Intelligence and Investigation

2) Cyber Incident Response

3) Networks and Systems Engineering

4) Vulnerability detection and assessment

5) Cyber risk and strategic analysis

The virtual job fair is meant to streamline the typically slow federal hiring process. Candidates who are selected in the virtual job fair will be asked for interviews in the second half of January, where job offers will be made on the spot and the clearance process will begin.
