The city of Kolkata, India, has launched a police station that will be solely devoted to handling cyber crime issues, according to an article in the Indian Express. The police launched a website, http://kolkatapolice-cybercampaign.net, which serves as an educational platform along with serving as a complaint receipt system and query registry.
Once the cyber police station is formed, it will be the fourth in India. The other three stations are in Mumbai, Bangalore and Hyderabad. Guatam Mohan Chakraborty, the Police Commissioner of Kolkata, said “Cyber crime is increasing by the day. With newer and more sophisticated technologies evolving, cyber-criminals are enjoying a free run. To check the menace, we have decided to have a police station that will be dedicated to cyber-crime cases. In addition, we have launched a website today in which people can easily file their complaints. The data will be kept secret.”
