Committee Approves Cybersecurity Bill, TechAmerica Announces Approval

In a letter to the House Committee on Science and Technology, TechAmerica announced their support for H.R. 4061, The Cybersecurity Enhancement Act of 2009. The bill was approved yesterday during the afternoon session and the bill will be sent to the full House for consideration.

In the letter, TechAmerica president and CEO, Philip Bond, wrote “TechAmerica has long been a proponent of increased focus on cybersecurity research and development and on buildling up our cybersecurity workforce, and we appreciate the leadership you have demonstrated in furthering both through your outreach, hearings, and introduction of H.R. 4061.”

The letter highlighted the need for increased education and awareness programs along with coordination and cooperation for cyber security research and development, all of which are covered in the bill.
