Anti-Virus Scanners May Not Be Enough

A central tenet of ‘good cyber hygiene’ is to ensure that you are running up-to-date anti-virus software on your computer. It appears that even that may not be enough. A recent study conducted by SurfRight has found that around a third of users with up-to-date anti-virus software are infected with malware.
To conduct the study, SurfRight used their HitmanPro 3 behavioural scan to scan over 100,000 computers for malware. Approximately one quarter of the users did not have any anti-virus scanner on their computer or using out-of-date software, according to an article on The Register.co.uk.

Protection for computers has normally become an concern but getting even more difficult all the time. I have never experienced so much unsolicited mail in my inbox, so many infections and also adware attempting to invade my computer. Precisely how are we supposed to find out which applications are the most beneficial?
