Indian Minister Claims Government Systems Have Not Been Breached

Minister of State for Communication and Information Technology, Sachin Pilot, said that while Indian government systems are being constantly probed, no attempts to hack the systems have been successful. “Yes, there have been attempts but I can categorically say that not one attempt has been successful. The government’s computer network system, maintained by the National Informatics Centre, is highly efficient,” he said in an interview with IANS.

Earlier this year, attacks which Indian officials claim came from China, attempted to breach the National Security Adviser’s office.

In the civilian sector, 570 Indian web sites were defaced in January, a marked increased from the previous year, according to the Computer Emergency Response Team.
