Credit Card Hacker to be Extradited

A court in Thailand has approved an extradition request from the U.S. for a Malaysian national accused of stealing credit card information. Gooi Kokseng, also known as Delpiero, is suspected of being involved in a crime ring accused of stealing approximately $150 million.

U.S. authorities filed an request with the Thai government who arrested Kokseng. If convicted, he could face up to one year in prison.

The compromised credit card accounts were spread between the U.S. and Southeast Asia. Initially, Kokseng told Thai police that he was wanted in the U.S. in connection with identity theft. However, he later retracted the statement in court.

Kokseng’s case will be held for a thirty day period in Thailand pending the appeals process.
