Hackers Arrested in Turkey

Twenty-three hackers suspected of connections to the Kurdistan Worker’s Party (PKK) and attacks on government websites were arrested. Allegedly, the suspects attacked government websites as directed by PKK leaders.

The operation, launched Wednesday in the city of Diyarbakir, targeted individuals suspected of hacking and having ties to the PKK, an outlawed political party. All suspects arrested have alleged ties to the computer hacking ring, Code Attack Team. Authorities from Germany, Italy and Belgium arrested dozens of suspects because of ramped up recruiting efforts.

Teams of hackers were reported to have emailed a power point presentation that warns recipients that everything on the computer has been deleted. Politically, Ankara has been trying to find a solution to the PKK issue without much luck.
