Google Adds Security Feature
Google is adding a new security feature to its GMail offerings that will warn users when there are suspicious account logins. The feature is currently being deployed for the Firefox and Internet Explorer browsers.
Users will have the ability to track recent account activity and sign out remotely from GMail service. The bottom of the inbox will display a section that displays the last login and whether it is still opened in another location. A user can click on a ‘details’ link to see more information, which includes what was used to access the account (phone, browser, etc) and the ISP.
“Your email account can contain a lot of personal information, from bank alerts to love letters. Email that, I’m sure, you don’t always want other people to see,” Erwin D’Souza, a GMail engineer writes. “We understand how important your Gmail accounts are to you, so we’re adding a new layer of information and control.”
