iPad Users Hit by Scammers

In typical fashion, scammers are quickly moving to exploit the new iPad and individuals who own the new technology. According to security researchers at BitDefender, scammers are attempting to convince iPad buyers to download backdoor software onto PCs.

The cyber criminals have distributed emails claiming that the iPad needs an iTunes update for “best performance, newer features and security.” The links in the email send the user to a fake website to download the malicious software.

The iPad itself as well as Mac users are not affected by the exploit.

Current estimates claim that over 1 million iPads have been sold to date.
