UK Follows in US’ Footsteps with Cyber Competition
The U.S. has held a number of cyber competitions recently in an effort to find the next generation of cyber professionals. The UK is now looking across the pond for ideas to build its own cybersecurity capabilities.
By operating a cyber competition, the UK hopes to identify and tap individuals who already possess technical savvy. The competition is designed to spark an interest in According to the BBC, many private companies are already facing difficulties and finding skilled cyber professionals.
Both the U.S. and UK are predominately networked nations. “We are increasingly dependent on networks and computer systems,” said Judy Baker, director of the Cyber Security Challenge (CSC). “The whole digital economy and society is structured around them.”
The challenge will begin on April 27 and individuals 16 or older are eligible to participate. Top performers will receive scholarships, mentoring and training.
“There’s a real need for people with these skills and they can give great value back to the nation as a whole,” Baker said.
