Verizon’s Peter Tippett: Cybersecurity is ‘headed in the right direction’
Cybersecurity efforts “are headed in the right direction,” Peter Tippett, vice president of technology and innovation at Verizon, said at the Infosecurity Europe trade show in London. Tippett said that all of Verizon’s research and data suggests that successful cyber attacks are leveling off and security will improve for Internet users in the coming years.
“Based on all the data we have amassed over the last several years for our Data Breach Investigations Reports…we know successful security breaches are levelling off and that means we are headed in the right direction…By 2020, we expect life to be notably better for cyber users,” Tippett said.
He also set out several trends that he feels will help to improve security over time. According to iTWire, these include: easier and more effective identity management, increased prosecution of individuals involved in cyber crime and security will become more scientific.
