Gen. Wesley Clark: US Can Stop Cyber Attacks

The increasing number of attacks via cyberspace on U.S. federal and private sector networks can and should be stopped, according to General Wesley Clark.
Speaking before an audience at the National Press Club, Clark told audience members that the United States already possesses the ability and technology to stop cyber attacks and merely needs to deploy those capabilities.
“The job now is to deploy these assets as soon as possible,” he said.
Thousands of attacks have already hit networks belonging to the critical infrastructure and U.S. government, including attacks on DoD, State, Commerce and Treasury, Clark said. These attacks highlight the risk of the nation’s critical infrastructure and national security capabilities being shut-down or severely hampered at any time.
“This would be a major disaster for the United States and our allies throughout the world,” he said. “We have no time to waste. The time for action is now.”
Clark advocated for the adoption of InZero, a hardware-based technology designed to thwart cyber attacks. The technology was also show-cased prior to Clark’s speech, featuring several world-renowned hackers who were unable to penetrate the system.
“Nothing gets through,” Clark said. “In test after test, it has proven to be totally unhackable.”
