Blog Service Closed Down by Law Enforcement
A blogging service with approximately 70,000 users has been forced to shut down by an unidentified law enforcement agency.
Blogetery, host to the 70,000 blogs, was taken offline on July 9, disrupting access to the blogs, according to The Register. A statement from the site administrators said the services was “terminated by request of law enforcement officials, due to material hosted on the server,” according to an email sent by Burstnet.com, Blogetery’s webhosting provider. The officials said the closure was permanent and the content stored by the service will be unavailable.
“Please note that this was not a typical case, in which suspension and notification would be the norm,” Burstnet officials wrote. “This was a critical matter brought to our attention by law enforcement officials. We had to immediately remove the server.”
It is currently unclear what specifically caused the website to be shut down.
