Harris Amps Up Efforts to Make Cyber a National Priority

Dale Meyerrose, Harris

In recognition of the ongoing national cybersecurity awareness campaign, Harris Corporation will hold public presentations by its cyber experts to highlight the need to make cyber a national priority, and for cyberspace to become a trusted domain for both private and government sectors.

“Cyberspace is the engine for much of the U.S. economy,” said Maj. Gen. Dale W. Meyerrose, vice president and general manager of Harris Cyber Integrated Solutions. “I hope that we as a nation take heed of information presented during National Cybersecurity Awareness Month and incorporate best practices now rather than wait for a cyber emergency to occur before we pay attention.”

On Oct 13, Harris’ cyber experts will participate in the cybersecurity panel at the C4ISR Symposium in Washington, D.C.  The following week (Oct. 22-24), they will be on the West Coast, sponsoring the 12th annual hacker conference ToorCon in San Diego, and presenting on the security of GSM networks.

In the end of October, Meyerrose will be speaking at the 2010 National Symposium on Homeland Security and Defense in Colorado Springs, Colo. His presentation is titled “Are You Solving Today’s Cyber Challenges with Yesterday’s Concepts?”

In addition to these public events, Harris also is hosting a number of employee events, including an application security class, dissemination of the top cybersecurity tips and a cybersecurity poster contest.
