Malaysia Steps Up Cybersecurity Battle

The Malaysian specialist center for cybersecurity has lined up five projects under the 10th Malaysia Plan to fight the increasing cyber crime threat in the nation, according to Bernama.
Among the new projects CyberSecurity Malaysia has already realized includes Cyber999, a public service that provides emergency response to cybersecurity-related emergencies as well as assistance in handling incidents such as hacking attempts and other cybersecurity breaches, said Chief Operating Officer Zahri Yunos.
Another project, Trust Mark, is still in its initial stages and is expected to be launched soon, Zahri told reporters at the Counter e-Crimes Operations Summit V. Private-sector companies could then team up with the project and use the Trust Mark logo on their websites as proof of safety, Yunos said.
CyberSecurity Malaysia, he said, was also launching a browser plugin called DontPhishme. Once installed, this security plug-in allows automatic detection of bogus banking sites.
