EADS‘ defense and security division Cassidian is spinning off a separate business unit that will focus solely on cybersecurity, Aviation Week reports.
“This is where the money is flowing,” Cassidian CEO Stefan Zoller said during the pre-Paris Air Show EADS seminar June 18.
He told Aviation Week the still-unnamed division will be launched by the summer, employ “200 or so” individuals, and that some “hundreds of millions of euros” have been allocated for it.
Many questions had been raised concerning cybersecurity, Zoller said, including where the threat is and what standards and norms should be established, and therefore “there is still some homework to be done” to outline what the needs are.
Zoller said he should have some answers by the end of the year, but meanwhile the new business unit will be looking to acquire other firms working in the same sector.
