Verizon-sponsored Health IT Summit to Kick Off in Fall 2011

As part of a combined effort by Georgia’s Department of Economic Development, the Metro Atlanta Chamber and the Technology Association of Georgia, the second annual Health IT Leadership Summit will be held this fall in Georgia to support the programs and initiatives that drive innovation in today’s health IT industry.

Sponsored by Verizon Wireless, the 2011 Georgia Health IT Summit will highlight the state’s leadership in the industry and address the actions needed to build and sustain a premier health IT workforce and build a robust health IT cluster.

Attendance for this year’s event is expected to exceed 500 people.

New to the event this year is the first-ever Intel Innovation Awards. The awards aim to recognize the health IT companies who are using technology in innovative ways, reaping strong clinical and financial benefits or finding new ways to address specific disease states. Four finalists will be selected to present at the summit and one will be recognized as the top innovator.

The Health IT Leadership Summit was founded in 2010. More than 111 leading health IT companies participated and more than 500 people attended the first event.
