CA Technologies and HyTrust Inc. Form Alliance to Secure Virtual and Cloud Infrastructures

CA Technologies and HyTrust, Inc. today announced a collaboration to further improve security and compliance for customers leveraging virtualized systems and cloud infrastructures.

CA Access Control and HyTrust Appliance complement one another by administering various aspects of a virtual infrastructure such as policy enforcement, unified access control, and audit-quality logging. HyTrust provides security policy and compliance capabilities allowing improved security of the cloud infrastructure.

“A big part of security in the virtualized and cloud world is control of internal users and mitigating internal threats. Organizations need to enforce controls, and they need to have assurance from any cloud provider that its IT administrators are in control – with respect to accessing customer information, applications and systems,” said Lina Liberti, vice president, Security Business, CA Technologies.

According to a December 2010 study conducted by Management Insight on behalf of CA Technologies, larger enterprises are exploring the benefits of cloud. The movement toward cloud provides a more complex infrastructure that demands a more sophisticated and automated management and security.

“Virtualization presents one of the most significant security challenges an IT organization faces, with the IT administrator being essentially given the ‘keys to the kingdom’ — access to every system and application. In the move to the cloud, the added complexity and multi-tenancy aspects of the infrastructure bring management, security, and compliance issues to the forefront,” said Eric Chiu, founder and president, HyTrust, Inc.

Both companies plan to showcase solutions for customers at the VMWorld 2011 in Las Vegas.
