CSC Releases Report on the Big Data Revolution

CSC’s Leading Edge Forum released a report  titled, “Data rEvolution,” exploring the emerging interest of commercial and government organizations in “big data.”

“Great discoveries come from having a broad spectrum of knowledge and the impending ‘Data rEvolution’ promises to open up a world of new insights, products, services, partnerships and roles,” said Paul Gustafson, the report’s lead author and director of CSC’s Leading Edge Forum, Technology Programs. “With data now a key factor in production, its growth and leveragability will be a basis for business innovation for years to come. The data-centered economy is advancing and organizations have to prepare.

The 65-page report, based on research directed by Gustafson, examines the world’s escalating appetite for data, how organizations are creating new ways to manage and see that data, and what new discoveries, services and opportunities will arise from it.

The authors of the report concluded that an organization’s internal data is not enough to fully unlock the massive potential of information unless combined with external data. Additionally, the report identifies key factors on how to leverage big data in order to positively impact the bottom line.

The report is now available and can be downloaded at the company’s website.
