Intel to Acquire Telmap to Expand Mobile Mapping Services
Intel announced during last week’s Intel AppUp Elements event that it has reached an agreement to acquire navigation and location-based services firm Telmap. Telmap, an Israel-based company, will become an Intel owned subsidiary. The deal is expected to close by the end of the year.
“This move is a step towards expanding our mobile software services capabilities as Intel continues to grow in the area of software and services. We are all very excited to have such knowledgeable and respected experts join the company,” Intel wrote in a blog post.
The Telmap purchase will help Intel provide developers with location-based services for devices, operating systems and CPU architectures.
“Telmap has a tremendous amount of expertise around end-to-end mobile local search, mapping and navigation services. Telmap delivers great multi-platform consumer experiences every day.” Intel wrote.
