Lockheed Martin delivered a second advanced extremely high frequency military communications satellite to the Air Force for an April launch.

Lockheed said it is contracted to provide four AEHF satellites and the mission control segment as the prime contractor for the AEHF constellation.

The satellite will launch aboard an Atlas V vehicle at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station.

The AEHF system is the successor to the five-satellite Milstar constellation that is currently in orbit.

The AEHF system transmits military communications including video, maps and data.

Northrop Grumman is subcontracted as the payload provider for the AEHF program.

The AEHF team also includes the Air Force’s military satellite communications systems directorate, located at the Space and Missile Systems Center at Los Angeles Air Force Base.
