McAfee, SAIC Create APT Cyber Attack Solution; Charles Beard Comments

SAIC Inc. and McAfee announced plans in October to partner to build new cybersecurity solutions for national governments, intelligence, telecommunications and enterprises worldwide. 

The companies announced Monday that the resulting cyber solution is available on SAIC’s CloudShield platform for government and military organizations to combat advanced persistent threats. 

Charles Beard, SAIC’s chief information officer and general manager of the company’s cybersecurity business unit, said organizations need a trusted platform that can deploy quickly and accommodate specialized software sensors.

McAfee’s NTR solution discovers hidden fragments of malware that have infiltrated networks and alert security administrators when events occur. 

Organizations could use the solution to combat slow, multi-phase attacks known as advanced persistent threats, said Christian Christiansen, IDC’s vice president of security products and services

Dr. Phyllis Schneck, McAfee’s chief technology officer for the global public sector, recently spoke with TheNewNewInternet about an award she had received and the changing threat landscape.
