Cisco Partnership Providing Cloud-Based BYOD Protection; Craig Cowden Comments

Cisco Systems and a cable television provider are partnering to make Internet security services available for government, healthcare and education institutions, the companies announced Monday.

Bright House Networks and Cisco said their partnership will help public entities guard their networks from threats such as those introduced by trends such as bring-your-own-device

Network managers are attempting to integrate BYOD and secure enterprise network assets, the companies said.

Public entities can purchase cloud-based managed security systems that focus on preventing system intrusions and securing employees’ devices brought to work.

Bright House is the first U.S. cable company to provide managed security services to vertical public sector entities, said Craig Cowden, Bright House’s senior vice president for network engineering and operations.

A Florida public school system uses the joint network monitoring network system to support more than 179,000 students.

Both companies will be demonstrating their joint data and security solutions Monday through Wednesday at NCTA’s The Cable Show 2012.
