Boeing Finishes Commercial Spacecraft Software Design Review; John Mulholland Comments

Boeing has completed software preliminary design review for its spacecraft that will taxi astronauts to the International Space Station, the company announced Thursday.
In early May, the company tested the Crew Space Transportation-100 spacecraft’s parachute and landing systems.
Evaluations included analysis of flight software, safety, testing, redundancy management, avionics hardware and ground systems.
The designs meet NASA safety requirements and system-level requirements, said John Mulholland, vice president and general manager for commercial programs.
CST-100 has now met several program milestones and is on schedule to complete remaining CCDev-2 milestones, including a propellant tank demonstration test and an orbital maneuvering and attitude control engine hot fire test, the company said.
The spacecraft can transport up to seven astronauts and the company expects to launch the United Launch Alliance Atlas V vehicle for initial CST-100 test flights in 2015-2016.
