The Transportation Safety Administration is looking to upgrade its mobile inventory by purchasing more than 2,000 Apple products.

TSA would make the acquisition over the next three years through multiple contract actions worth up to $3 million, according to a sole source justification posted on FedBizOpps.

Products would include around 1,000 iPads, iPhones and iPods and 1,000 Apple computers.

TSA said the devices would be used in support of its risk based counter-terrorism mission.

According to the notice, TSA has examined purchasing commercial-off-the-shelf products since 2009 to support a mobile workforce.

In mid-April, the Interior Department also announced plans to purchase Apple’s new iPad or an equivalent device.
