A multi-industry group has issued a set of protection guidelines to fight botnets, the company announced Thursday.
The Industry Botnet Group made the announcement during a White House event Wednesday to discuss the impacts of botnets to cyber security.
The list includes nine tips that were created to minimize the effects of botnets through partnership, instruction, and voluntary methods that individuals and businesses can implement.
Governments, industries and that individual users can profit from a secure Internet environment, the group said.
A single individual cannot resolve security threats on their own but a collaborative effort may aid in strengthening the ecosystem, said Liesel Franz, vice president for cybersecurity policy at TechAmerica.
