NSA OKs General Dynamics Classified Data Encryptor

General Dynamics’ C4 systems unit has received National Security Agency approval for a product designed to help agencies protect sensitive data on virtual platforms.

The Falls Church, Va.-based firm said the ProtecD@R PC encryptor secures data, imagery, video, and related material kept on computer hard drives.

NSA approved the encryptor to secure classified information at the secret level and lower levels, the company said.

The new Suite B device is designed to prevent illegal access to classified data when a computer is lost, stolen or vulnerable to insider threat.

It is the same size as an external hard drive, uses basic interface to connect to a computer and applies encryption codes to saved data without affecting the device’s processing speed, according to the company.

Earlier this mont,h the National Committee for Quality Assurance gave the company’s MedMeasures version 14.0 the organization’s Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set certificate.
