Agencies in charge of national security and emergency preparedness programs should move mission-critical systems to cloud computing infrastructures, a White House advisory panel says, according to Fierce Government IT.
In its report, the White House’s national security telecommunications advisory committee also said the Federal Risk Authorization Management Program should include more high-risk impact level systems.
The Department of Homeland Security and General Services Administration should help agencies select cloud solutions, the panel said.
Agencies should create a program for prioritizing access to cloud-based systems in emergency situations, the panel recommended.
Potential policy issues the committee highlighted included whether a vendor should host data on servers in foreign countries.
