Treasury Considering New Cloud Vendor

The Treasury Department is seeking a contractor to host its main website and some others in a cloud infrastructure, Nextgov reports.

Amazon’s EC2 cloud service currently hosts Treasury.gov and other Treasury websites, as well as the Energy Department’s websites, according to the report.

The company received a potential two-year contract in 2010, to host the sites and can compete for the new contract, Joseph Marks writes.

Citing a request for information, Marks reports the government wanted to sample cloud hosting before it committed to a long-term contract.

Responses are due to the Treasury by 10 a.m. on July 16.
