Raytheon To Help Make Navy Radars, Air Traffic Navigation Systems

Raytheon will help the U.S. Navy develop new radars and air traffic navigation systems, the Defense Department announced Wednesday.

The company will perform work in Marlborough, Mass. and the Pentagon expects the work to finish by Sept. 30, 2014.

Raytheon is also providing the Navy engineering and software development services for a dual band radar.

Under that project, the branch wants the radar to be compatible with power systems on the Gerald R. Ford aircraft carrier class.

Through a similar project with the Air Force, the company is working on radar technology for helping military and civil air traffic controllers avoid hazards around unmanned aircraft systems.
