Boeing and an industry partner will integrate and test a new communications system for an Air Force tiltrotor aircraft, the Defense Department announced Wednesday.
Bell-Boeing Joint Project Office, a partnership between Boeing and Bell Helicopter, will also perform engineering and design work for the beyond line-of-sight system on the CV-22 Osprey.
The Air Force will use the system for trans-oceanic air traffic control and tactical communications, the Pentagon said.
Work for the Block 20 Upgrade Program will occur in Philadelphia and Amarillo, Texas through December 2015.
The Boeing-Bell team holds five contracts worth a combined $181 million for Osprey long lead materials, flight control system engineering and technical support, radar integration and retrofits for radio frequency countermeasures.
