Raytheon is developing a sensor package for the U.S. Navy to conduct surveillance missions and track targets, the Defense Department announced Wednesday.
The U.S. Navy will receive 24 multi-spectral targeting systems for its MH-60R Seahawk helicopter fleet through October 2013.
According to the Pentagon, the airborne and turreted electro-optic sensor package is for long-range surveillance, high-altitude target acquisition, tracking and laser designation.
NATO also uses the sensors for its laser-guided weapons and the company is also developing a new missile defense tool for the alliance.
The company said it will work with NATO to determine how it can use the architectural analysis tool to support integrated air and missile defense systems in Europe.
