Rockwell Collins to Provide Navy Tactical Radios; Robert Haag Comments

Rockwell Collins will supply the U.S. Navy with TacNet Tactical Radio to help the branch expand its Link 16 networked communications, the company announced Tuesday.
The U.S. Naval Research Lab awarded the contract and the company expects to begin delivering the radio in February 2013.
Robert Haag, communication and navigation products vice president and general manager, said TTR will introduce new users to the Link 16 network.
TTR is intended for the naval warfare environment and provides warfighters a common operating picture through Link 16 communications, the company said.
New platforms for Link 16 could drones, rotary wing aircraft, forward air controllers, military vehicles, mobile and transportable ground stations and small maritime assets, according to the company.
Link 16 is the primary joint data link for U.S. and coalition forces for data communications; command and control data; and information sharing for targeting and situational awareness.
