Potential security flaws of Apple’s iCloud service were recently exposed following the hacking of a Wired technology journalist’s account.
Mat Hanon recounted details of the hacking that compromised his Twitter account and erased data on his Apple devices including a Macbook, iPad and iPhone.
The hacker, a 19-year-old male who calls himself Phobia, said the hacking will “publicize security exploits” in both Apple and Amazon.
Hanon found Apple’s over-the-phone password service which requires easily found information could lead to the hacking of iCloud accounts and subsequently to connected accounts on Amazon.
Hanon added his experience led him to believe that cloud-based systems need fundamentally different security measures to other systems.
