The Labor Department is seeking a contractor to move its email and collaboration tools to a cloud computing infrastructure, Nextgov reports.
Citing a Wednesday request for proposals, Joseph Marks reports the department wants the single email system to combine separate legacy systems from the department’s nine major divisions.
The Bureau of Labor Statistics would have one domain, another will go to the Office of Inspector General and the rest of the department will share the third domain, according to the report.
Marks reports the department also wants the vendor to store programs Web-based e-discovery, records management and software-as-a-service tools in the vendor’s servers rather than in the agency’s servers.
In January, Google started hosting the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration‘s email system in the company’s cloud.
