SAIC Designs Turnkey Surveillance System; John Thomas Comments

A new SAIC Inc.-designed surveillance system contains commercial off-the-shelf hardware to provide customers a turnkey security system, the company announced Tuesday.
The Integrated Wide Area Surveillance System is designed for use in border surveillance, force protection, critical asset and infrastructure and special event security.
It is also designed to leave a low carbon footprint, said John Thomas, senior vice president and general manager of the intelligence systems business unit.
Future customers can use IWASS to predict, deter, detect, track, identify, classify, respond to and resolve illegal incursions.
The system contains a 360-degree persistent surveillance radar and an electro-optical and infrared sensor suite, providing coverage of up to 7.5 miles and users can integrate the system with other sensors.
Power generates through solar batteries and external power sources including grids, generators and fuel cells.
SAIC and the Army are developing a intelligence information transfer system, with the company providing systems engineering.
