Report: WH Using Cyber Info Sharing Pilots Ahead of Exec Order
The White House is using data gathered from two pilot programs to test the potential of a private-public cyber information sharing partnership before a cyber executive order is released, Federal News Radio reports.
White House Cyber Coordinator Michael Daniel said the departments of Energy and Homeland Security are working with the electric sector to develop cybersecurity standards, according to Jason Miller’s article.
He made the remarks at an Intelligence and National Security Association Cybersecurity Symposium in Washington Wednesday.
Daniel added the Electricity Subsector Cybersecurity Capability Maturity Model is made up of a structured set of questions, according to the report, with that pilot program has led private companies in the electricity sector to push for its own initiatives at the local and state level.
DHS and the Pentagon in May expanded a joint program to expand cybersecurity information sharing with the industrial base.
