Cisco’s Gina Clark: Video Conferencing to Become Default Comm Medium

As the demand for video platforms increases, video conferencing will eventually replace audio conferencing as the primary medium for electronic communications, a Cisco Systems executive recently said, according to eWeek.
Gina Clark, vice president and general manager for the company’s telepresence cloud business unit, told reporters and industry analysts last week employees are acquiring their own cloud services for communication and collaboration, what she termed a bring-your-own-cloud trend, Robert Mullins reports.
That trend is combined with the bring-your-own device trend at many workplaces and agencies, according to the report.
According to Mullins’ article, Cisco forecasts that one million minutes of video will travel across networks every second by 2015, including via corporate networks and the public Internet.
Also in 2015, the company predicts the world will have 15 billion connected devices and business video conferencing activity will grow six times as well.
