A Science Applications International Corp. subsidiary and McAfee have combined two of their cyber platforms to create an updated network firewall, SAIC announced Wednesday.

SAIC said CloudShield will run McAfee’s Firewall Enterprise, used by government and defense agencies worldwide, on the CloudShield CS-4000 cyber platform.

“Every CIO I know is looking to establish trust in the networks they operate on behalf of their organizations,” SAIC Chief Information Officer Charles Beard said in a release. “Having a platform of trust capable of operating concurrent solutions including McAfee Firewall Enterprise that can be deployed to Internet gateways globally begins to help us regain that trust.”

Peder Jungck, an SAIC senior vice president and chief technology officer, said ships, remote government operations and energy infrastructure locations can use the updated firewall to secure networks for data centers and communications infrastructure.

The two companies previously announced a partnership in November, where McAfee would help SAIC integrate a threat response program into CloudShield.
