The Rifleman Radio and the backpack-sized Manpack Radios are part of the Army’s now largely-cancelled Joint Tactical Radio Systems program, intended to provide the military with digital radios.
Brig. Gen. Daniel Hughes, director of system of systems integration at Aberdeen Proving Ground, told AOL this recent RFI for the program was always in the plan to have an open competition for radios.
Hughes added that the Army is satisfied with what General Dynamics has done for the Rifleman program, AOL reports..
The Army wants industry feedback on the Rifleman Radio program’s draft statement of objectives, draft statement of work, draft performance requirements document and draft contract data requirements list.
