The General Services Administration is seeking industry information on sustainable building technologies and practices for its Green Proving Ground initiative, the agency announced Friday.
Under that initiative, the agency aims to use the federal real estate portfolio as a proving ground for building technology and practices.
GSA says it owns and leases 9,600 buildings across the country.
The agency issued a request for information to industry, which the agency will use in the selection process for technologies to test as part of the GPG’s 2013 program.
According to the RFI, the GSA wants feedback from private companies, educational institutions, and non-profit organizations.
The GPG program continues efforts under previous programs such as the Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007 and the Federal Leadership in Environmental, Energy, and Economic Performance of 2009.
