Northrop Wins $47M to Train Soliders to Operate Unmanned Air System

Northrop Grumman has been awarded a $36.5 million contract by the U.S. Defense department to train U.S. Army soldiers to operate the Hunter unmanned air system at Fort Huachuca.

The company said contract work will extend through the 2013 fiscal year.

Rep. Ron Barber told the Sierra Vista Herald that Fort Huachuca has an excellent record of training soldiers to operate unmanned aircraft and that he commends the Army’s continued support of the effort.

Barber also said that the 2nd Battalion, 14th Regiment at the Fort Huachuca has already had more than 10,000 graduated unmanned aircraft pilots.
