The H-1 upgrade program aims to replace AH-1W and UH-1N helicopters with UH-1Y and AH-1Z helicopters, the company said.
Under the contract, the company will provide the Navy Gen II mission computers and trays for the H-1 program’s lot 10 production aircraft through January 2015.
Ike Song, vice president of Northrop’s situational awareness systems business unit, said the Navy has used the H-1 helicopters in Afghanistan.
Computers show mission data on four displays and are designed to provide situational awareness to light attack helicopter squadrons.
Northrop also designed the computers to provide warfighters centralized control of the company’s Integrated Avionics System, interface with the tactical moving map and display health monitoring information.
