NJVC’s Kevin Jackson On How Cloud Can Change Intell Community Organization

Kevin Jackson, vice president and general manager of cloud services at NJVC, has co-authored a white paper on how the U.S. intelligence community can use cloud computing to locate data and apply it for missions.
The Intelligence and National Security Alliance Cloud Computing Task Force interviewed nearly 50 thought leaders and policy makers in the public and private sector for the paper, “Cloud Computing: Risks, Benefits and Mission Enhancement for the Intelligence Community.”
Jackson summarized the task force’s findings for the paper and highlighted how IC decision makers focus on cloud’s implications for their agency’s business model and on how to build information security into a cloud platform.
Federal Acquisition Regulations will have to change for agencies to take advantage of cloud’s benefits, Jackson writes.
IC agencies also will share information if they change how federal funds are allocated, according to Jackson.
Academia, the private sector and the information technology industry can offer the IC lessons learned on how to implement cloud technology, Jackson recommends in the paper.
