Juniper Networks Buys Denial-Of-Service Software Maker

JuniperLogoJuniper Networks has acquired cyber attack protection product developer Webscreen Systems for $10 million, Techworld reports.

Accumuli Security PLC, Webscreen’s parent, will transfer four Webscreen employees and all Internet Protocol products over to Juniper.

Webscreen was founded in 1999 and develops software intended to protect against distributed denial of service, volumetric and application-layer attacks.

The software is sold through a dedicated channel that will now include Accumuli, the report said.

Accumuli CEO Gavin Lyons said Accumuli bought Webscreen and managed service provider Boxing Orange in April 2011 for nearly $8.9 million.

Lyons added that Webscreen needed further investment that only a larger vendor could make to remain competitive.
