DLT Solutions will provide Amazon Web Services cloud computing platforms to public sector agencies on a month-to-month cost basis.
DLT will also work with agency contract teams and technical leads to monitor how they spend on cloud technologies, Chief Cloud Technologist David Blankenhorn said in a blog post Thursday.
The federal cloud provider intends to sell Amazon’s cloud products via the NITAAC ESC III contract and for this award to complement DLT’s win of the National Cooperative Purchasing Alliance cloud and web services contract, Blankenhorn said.
Blankenhorn compared the Amazon cost structure to a “pay-by-the-minute” phone plan, where users talk for 90 minutes and pay for 90 minutes of use.
Engineers will work with agencies to identify resources during the proof-of-concept phase and market research phases, he added.
Some agencies are experimenting with AWS on either a credit card or government issued P-Card and may want to move into a formal procurement, he said.
